KHULNA DIVISION: LAND OF THE LARGEST MANGROVE FOREST ON EARTH

GENERAL INFORMATION


Khulna is located in the south-west of Bangladesh. It has an area of 22,274 square Kilometer and a population of 14.47 million. It has male 51.05%, female 48.95%; Muslim 82.87%, Hindu 16.45% and others 0.68%. It is bounded by Rajshahi division on the north, Bay of Bengal on the south, Dhaka and Barisal divisions on the east, and West Bengal of India on the west.

Formed with the silted alluvial soil, this division is fertile and produces a lot of coconut, Paddy, jute, betel leaf, sugarcane, potato, turmeric, oil seeds, mulberry plant, vegetables, Mango, jackfruit, banana, litchi, berry, palm and papaya. Because of the Bay of Bengal and its salty sea water the vegetation is mangrove. We have Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest of the world
.

DHAKA DIVISION: THE CENTER OF BANGLADESH

GENERAL INFORMATION


Dhaka is in the centre and the capital of Bangladesh. This division has an area of 31,120 Square Kilometer and a population of 40 million. It is bounded by Indian state of Meghalaya in the north, Barisal and Chittagong divisions in the south, Sylhet division in the east, and Rajshahi & Khulna divisions in the west. Dhaka is the entrance to most of the international tourists who fly to Bangladesh, since we have our main international airport in this town.

Population distribution of this division is male 51.63%, female 48.37%; Muslim 89.51%; Hindu 9.64%, Christian 0.5%, Buddhist 0.03% and others 0.32%.

The division is mostly plain and consists of cultivable land. We grow Paddy, jute, wheat, potato, ground nut, onion, garlic, chilly, various kinds of pulse, sugarcane, and vegetables.  Mango, jackfruit, papaya, pineapple, guava, watermelon, coconut and banana are among produced fruits of Dhaka.

This division is ideal for Photography Tours, Nature Tours, Architectural Tours, River Tours, Monsoon Tours, and Walking Tours.

Dhaka has got the major international airport of Bangladesh that makes it the gateway for most of the inbound tourists of Bangladesh

taufiq rahman journeyplusTaufiq Rahman is the founder Chief Executive of Journey Plus that has been established in 1994. He has acquired vast knowledge and wide experience in tourism. He has studied Hospitality Management in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1993. During his stay in Cyprus he obtained certificates on Introduction to the Hospitality Industry, Financial Accounting for hospitality Industry and other courses from American Hotel & Lodging Association. In 1995, he joined National Hotel & Tourism Training Institute, run by the National Tourism Organization of Bangladesh and sponsored by ILO & UNDP, as a Guest Teacher. He enriched his academic profile in 2008 by obtaining MBA. Being a tourism expert, he has been lecturing in the ‘Tourism & Hospitality Management’ department of Dhaka University as well as several other universities and institutions as a guest teacher.

Before establishing the company Mr. Rahman worked as an F&B Manager at a city hotel for couple of years. With passion and skill, he has been working hard to develop the tourism sector in Bangladesh. His dynamic management made Journey Plus one of few very successful tour operators in Bangladesh. He is a regular travel writer and has few publications on the field. Being an expert, he coordinated the “Tour Management for Tour Operator” organized by Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industries (DCCI), three times. He also coordinated the “TOAB standardization workshop” twice.

He has attended Tourism Marketing Planning Course in WES, Brugge, Belgium in1999, Executive Development Institute for Tourism (EDIT) course in 2003 from University of Hawaii in Hawaii, USA, and MICE Development Program in Kandy, Srilanka in 2004 organized by Srilankan Convention Bureau and Certificate course in Hong Kong in 2015 organised by school of Hotel and Travel Management, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In attending these courses he was the only scholarship holder representative from Bangladesh. He has also attended several Travel & Tourism fair around the world as a member of Bangladesh Delegate including ITB-Berlin, WTM-London, JATA - Tokyo, ALTM-Shanghai, BITE & COTTM – Beijing, ITB Asia – Singapore, Meeting Luxury – Lugano, Switzerland, TTF-Calcutta, BTF - Brussels, PATA Travel Mart – Bangkok & Singapore and SATTE-Delhi etc.

Mr. Rahman has served Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) as Treasurer for the period from 2002-2004, 1st. Vice President from 2009-2011 and Director from 2015-2019 (02 consecutive term) at the same Association. He is also the Secretary General of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Bangladesh Chapter, Former Co-Chairman of Standing Committee on Civil Aviation & Tourism,  The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber and Industry (FBCCI), Former Chairman of Standing Committee on Hospitality & Tourism, E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-Cab).

Recently he has been elected the Chairman of Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO), Bangladesh. He also enriched his profile to became the Inbound Tour Operator Expert of Tourism Master Plan project implemented by Bangladesh Tourism Board and Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism.
